British Supersport Championship (BSS)
Factory team Smiths Triumph were delighted to be back on the podium with a highly competitive pair of races from Glen Richards and Billy McConnell on their Daytona 675Rs. The first of two Supersport races at Oulton Park saw Richards and McConnell jostling for position amongst the top six. At half race distance McConnell made a small mistake sliding out of the action leaving Richards to fly the flag for the team and ultimately cross the line in fifth. Sunday’s longer feature race was McConnell’s opportunity to make up for his previous mistake and his determination was rewarded with a second place finish. Richards replicated his race one pace and brought the Daytona home in fifth adding another eleven points to his tally. McConnell maintains fourth in the Championship standings with Richards in seventh.
Oxford TAG Triumph are similarly buoyant after recording four top ten finishes across the weekend. Saturday’s ten-lap sprint race saw Richard Cooper and Scott Smart take seventh and eighth place respectively. In the 15-lap feature race on Sunday, the pair once again illustrated tremendous race pace on the Daytona 675 with Cooper mirroring his race one performance to take seventh and Scott Smart making up four places late on to secure ninth position.
T3 Racing’s Rob Guiver experienced mixed fortunes on his Ace Café sponsored Daytona 675R with a win in the Supersport Cup on Saturday and a third place ‘Cup’ finish on Sunday. Guiver now sits in top position in the Cup standings with only five rounds remaining.
Profile Racing’s Luke Stapleford enjoyed more points after bringing his 2012 Daytona 675R across the line in eleventh in both Saturday’s sprint race and Sunday’s feature race. Another ten championship points means Stapleford holds on to fourteenth in the current Supersport standings.
